One of the most striking grape varieties for colour. When picked, it just drips an intense red colour, unlike any other variety we have on the property. This intensity continues throughout the process, giving the Durif such a deep black ink-like colour, making it the master of red wines for colour in our range, therefore only fitting to call it ‘Ink Master’.

Vintage Notes
The 2022 vintage growing season was average. The 2021 winter was the wettest recorded since 1996. October and November saw rainfall totals above average. Together with a rainfall event in February assisted in refreshing up the vines leading into harvest. This vintage was filled with some highs and lows for the other growers affected by hail, which we felt deeply for.
Winemaker Notes
Colour: Dark Ink red with purple hue
Nose: Dark Berries, plum and dark chocolate.
Palate: A firm texture and mouth fill together with sweet dark berries.
The Ink Master Durif is an amazing wine for colour and flavours which makes it idea for winter nights by the fire or with a hearty steak.

Deeply coloured and inky with dense blackberry and black cherry fruits cut with hints of clove, bay leaf, graphite, licorice, 'Old Jamaican' chocolate, turned earth, dates, prunes and dried meats. Full bodied with a dense fruit flow like a slow-moving spice freight train, tannins thick and fine at the base. Enough fine acidity to keep that old train on the rails, too. - 91 Points - Dave Brookes – Halliday Wine Companion
Dark, inky and opaque in the glass: an impressive colour. Heady aromas of stewed plum, coffee grounds, sweet spice and graphite. Big, bold and full of dark plummy fruit. There's real power and plushness, but the tannins and acidity perform their role admirably in delivering texture and cut. A big time wine, not for the faint hearted. - 89 Points - Aaron Brasher – The Real Review

Opaque core into a deep purple rim. Blackberry, bitter chocolate, and ground coffee aromatics. Big and ripe blackberry fruit fills the palate, a layer of mocha fills in underneath adding interest. Good length and the tannins remain supple throughout. - 90 Points - Stuart Knox, The Real Review
Northern Barossa-sourced durif matured in seasoned French oak for 12 months. Impenetrable and inky in the glass with a purple edge. Notes of deep black plum, black cherry, cassis and fig with underlying hints of black spices, licorice, dark chocolate and earth. A full-bodied, glass-and teeth-staining style that retains freshness and a savoury shape, despite all the latent horsepower. - 88 Points - Halliday Wine Companion

Glass-staining, opaque purple colour. The aromas are likewise bright and primal, young and simple but deep and concentrated, with fresh-cut herb and raw-plum flavours. It's a bit raw and brash, but will certainly have its afficionadoes. - 86 Points - Huon Hook - The Real Review
An intense northern Barossa Valley durif from the team of Nick and Carol Riebke. An impenetrable, glass-staining purple-red colour, with aromas of dark berries, macerated plums, violets and dark chocolate. Intense dark- and black-fruit profile in the mouth, with acidity overtaking the fruit on the finish. - 85 Points - David Brookes - Halliday Wine Companion
