Almond Row was named after one little row of almond trees that once grew beside these Shiraz vines. When Nick was a child, he would pick the almonds and crack open the shells so he could sell the kernels for his pocket money. But as time went on, the trees were no longer required. Today you can still see the odd almond shells next to this block of Shiraz.

Vintage Notes
Following two particularly dry seasons figures were crossed that the 2021 vintage would be much kinder. Conditions through summer were relatively mild, with cool mornings and maximum temperatures below 30°C for most of January, providing optimal ripening conditions. The quality was exceptional, with Reds having intense, rich, and balanced flavours and colours.
Winemaker Notes
Colour: Dark deep red with a garnet core.
Nose: Sweet spiced notes of dark red fruits, cherries.
Palate: A fine and elegant structure with mouth filling intense black and red fruits. Rich earthy notes giving a long complex structure.
Overall this wine is still very young holding fresh acidity and with careful cellaring will assist the wine to develop and further evolve. The 2021 Lost Penny Almond Row Shiraz has an overall sweet spiced nose and palate with an elegant structure built around mouth-filling rich berry characters.

Expovina Wine Trophy 2024 – Silver Medal.
Shiraz from Ebenezer in the northern Barossa Valley; matured in French oak for 18 months.
Deep crimson with aromas of satsuma plums, blackberry and black cherry fruits cut with hints of baking spices, licorice, dark chocolate and Barossa earth. Full bodied and plushly fruited with a real chocolaty feel to the fine tannins and a nice fruit flow and depth as it sails across the tongue. - 90 Points, Dave Brookes - Halliday Wine Companion
Sweet and lifted aromas of plum, cedar, anise and spice. Sweet and juicy on the palate, plenty of plum and mulberry along with spice and charry oak. Tannins are firm and bring shape and the acidity has some presence and delivers decent cut - 87 Points, Aaron Brasher - The Real Review

Deep magenta-splashed crimson in the glass. Aromas of ripe satsuma plum, dark cherry and blueberry fruits cut with hints of fruitcake spice, dark chocolate, violets, tapenade, licorice, cedar and earth. There's pure fruit and some nice creamy oak on the palate, tight, powdery tannins and a medium-length finish. - 91 Points, Dave Brookes - Halliday Wine Companion

Shiraz from Ebenezer in the northern Barossa Valley; matured in French oak for 18 months. Vibrant crimson in the glass with aromas of blood plum, blackberry and cassis with hints of fruitcake spices, licorice and dark chocolate. Good fruit intensity and depth on the palate with some blue fruit high tones, gypsum-like tannins, bright acidity and a savoury, black-fruited palate shape on the exit.
- 90 Points, Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
Impenetrable core into a deeply purple-tinged rim. Blackberry, spearmint and dark chocolate aromatics. A big, rich red loaded with ripe blue and black fruits, a layer of dark chocolate and cinnamon provides interest along the line. Velvety tannins caress the edges and drive length but lack power to focus the finish to full dryness. Offers a lot of wine at the price. - 88 Points, Stuart Knock - The Real Review

Medium, intense ruby colour with a fading into the rim. Blueberry compote, mint leaf and mocha aromas. Big and rich on the palate, lashings of vanilla and chocolate over plush and ripe blue fruits. Velvet tannins add further to the sense of weight. Has reasonable length and the framework carries to the finish. Whilst the alcohol is high it works in this context. – 90 Points, Stuart Knock – The Real Review
Estate-grown Ebenezer shiraz from 5th-generation Barossa grape growers Carol and Nick Riebke. Deep red-purple hue, with aromas of dark plum and blackberry fruit, undercut with moody spice notes, dark chocolate, licorice and light, cedary oak. Weighty with intense, ripe and spicy black fruits and and an underlying sense of latent horsepower. A classic northern Barossa style. – 88 Points, Dave Brookes – Halliday Wine Companion

From estate vines in Ebenezer. Matured 18 months in French oak barrels. Medium purple red. Ripe and jammy with plum and prune fruit filled out with dark chocolate and coffee-bean oak. It has the flesh to hold its alcohol on a finish of medium persistence. Fine tannins are nicely resolved. A full northern Barossa style to drink soon. - 89 Points, Tyson Stelzer - Halliday Wine Companion
